Carlos Escobedo created Benassai Films. He is a filmmaker and photographer living in Fairfield, California. He was born in Mexico City in 1970 and his family moved to San Rafael, California, in 1980. Later on he studied English Literature at UC Berkeley and spent a year abroad at the University of Leeds, England. He became involved in filmmaking while living in New York City in the late '90s and early 2000s. In addition to film and photography, Carlos also investigates death penalty cases for the defense to ensure his clients received fair trials. It was during his investigative travels across the United States that he developed an appreciation for vintage America neon signs.
